Prosecutors in Surry, Virginia now claim to have enough evidence against Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick to claim that he is indeed linked to an apparent large dog fighting operation. Dozens of pitbulls and dog fighting equipment taken from one of his properties lead many to question his character, and his place in the NFL. League officials cracked down this offseason on players with recurring off-field legal problems, most notably Pacman Jones of the Tennessee Titans. With all of Vick's recent distractions, he too should be immediately suspended by league commissioner Roger Goodell. If Jones can be suspended without being convicted of a crime, Vick should receive no different treatment. Vick has had a tumultuous time over the past few years and has drawn a good amount of negative criticism with his obscene gestures, missed meeting on Capitol Hill, the water bottles and suspicion of marijuana, and now he is facing the most serious problem of all, possible indictments for felony dog fighting. Vick should be immediately suspended, if not for directly breaking the law, then for giving the league a bad name. The NFL has plenty of stars who are better than Vick who don't carry all of the personal baggage. These players should be the focus of the media resulting from their positive contributions. Instead we are forced to hear, day after day, about Vick's nonsense and legal battles. Get him out. Until he is gone he will just be another Barry Bonds or Ron Artest, blemishes on the sports world. These thugs need to be removed from sports to rid the games of negativity.
